We are pleased to announce the new version release – Payment Plans v1.7. This new product update introduces Custom Payment Plan Scheduling, a major upgrade that gives store admins full control over how installment plans are structured and billed.
This product release note removes rigid preset rules and replaces them with a flexible, build-your-own payment schedule system.
You can now set custom amounts, custom intervals, specific charge dates, and multi-level plans for any product.
Custom Payment Plan Scheduling
This feature in this product release lets you design installment plans exactly the way your store needs them.
You decide:
- How many installments to create
- How much to charge in each installment
- Whether each installment is a fixed amount or percentage
- When each installment should be billed
- Whether billing happens on intervals or exact dates and times
This gives merchants more freedom and avoids forcing customers into a one-size-fits-all structure.
Backend Setup
Follow these steps to configure a custom schedule.
Step 1: Open the Product
Go to Admin Dashboard → Products → All Products

Add or edit the product where you want a custom schedule.

Step 2: Go to the Payment Plans Tab
Inside the product editor, open the Payment Plans tab.
Select Payment Plan Custom Schedule.

Step 3: Add Plan Details
- Enter the Plan Title
- Add a Plan Description

Step 4: Choose Charge Type
Choose between:
- Fixed amount
- Percentage of product price
If you choose Percentage, the system auto-calculates totals.
Example: 50% of a $100 product = $50.
Important:
Variable products only support fixed amounts. Percentage mode is disabled.
Step 5: Build the Installment Levels
Each “level” is one installment in the schedule.
- Click the + icon to add a new level
- Click the trash icon to delete a level
- Enter the Amount or Percentage for each level
- Example: For a $100 product, entering $50 means this level will charge $50

Step 6: Set When Payments Occur
Each level has two timing fields:
A. Interval
Defines the delay before charging.
Example: Interval = 1 month → User is charged 1 month after purchase.
B. When
Defines the specific moment the charge occurs.
- The first level is always immediately
- Next levels can be scheduled after:
- X days
- X weeks
- X months
- X years

Optional: Schedule an Exact Date
Enable Set a Date to choose a specific date and time.

If the installment date is in the past:
- The system flags it
- Marks the installment as failed/on hold
- Admin must manually update the date in Scheduled Actions
Important logic:
The installment with the earliest actual date is charged first.
This applies even if it belongs to a later level.
Step 7: Save
Click Update to finalize the schedule.

Why This Product Update Matters
For Store Owners:
- Full control over installment pacing
- Custom logic for different product types
- Easier management of unique billing strategies
- More flexible sales models without custom code
For Customers:
- Clear visibility into every installment
- Transparent billing expectations
